When producing a menu or meal plan it is important to know whether we have enough of all the ingredients. We have incorporated this facility to help ensure that you have all the necessary ingredients to produce all the dishes.
Selecting the Shopping List from the main menu bar without having pre-selected a recipe item with take you to a screen that displays "There are no dishes in the shopping list". Think of your mealplan then select each recipe in turn.
SELECTING INGREDIENTS
Each of the three ingredient quantity columns has a click on button to add that columns ingredients into a shopping list, which is printable, and lists all the ingredients into alphabetical order.
You can add complete menus or meal plans, for larger numbers of meals than 6, then add successive clicks to the "Add" button providing increased numbers in multiples of two until the required number is reached. e.g. Add 2 plus Add 6 plus Add 6 gives a total of 14.
PRODUCING THE SHOPPING LIST
The system will now generate and present a consoildated shopping list for the meal plan recipe selections when requested from the menu bar choice "Shopping List".
The units of measure quoted can be changed by clicking the required units selction button at the bottom of the listing. Note that the meal plan recipe selection is shown at the top of the listing with the portion quantities of each.
NOTE :- Many recipes will incorporate other basic recipe items, e.g. Shortcrust pastry, white vegetable stock etc. For your shopping list to provide you with a listing of all the basic ingredients then these recipes and their portions need to be included as part of your selection.
The Following example is the complete list for a 6 portion Apple and Blueberry Pie.
As in all other parts of our site, clicking on a yellow highlighted word or term will open a small pop up providing a definition or breif description.
