A round saltwater fish with a silver grey under belly and slate grey top. Growing up to 1 metre in length they come from both the North and South Atlantic. Sold as fillets or occasionally whole, the flesh is milky white with a delicate flavour and texture. Hake is a great favourite in the cookery of Spain and Portugal where it is served hot with herb sauces or cold with garlic dressings and marinades.
Hake, also refered to as Silver Hake, is also a member of the Cod family.
